Great news for the people of Bengaluru! The Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 of the Namma Metro railway network has been approved by the Karnataka Cabinet to begin construction. The move is aimed at alleviating the city's traffic congestion. This phase will enhance Outer Ring Road connectivity, covering 44.65 kilometres and significantly improving urban mobility.

The estimated cost of the ambitious Bengaluru Metro expansion project is around ₹15,611 crore, with a completion deadline set for 2028. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda revealed that Phase 3's initial metro rail line will stretch from Hebbal to JP Nagar. It will cover approximately 32.15 kilometres. The second line will improve Bengaluru metro connectivity, passing through Mysuru Road, Magadi Road, Gorguntepalya, and culminating at JP Nagar. Additionally, it will extend from Hosahalli to Magadi Road and then to Kadabagere, covering the final 12.5 kilometres.

Bengaluru metro expansion plans are crucial for Bengaluru's mass transit system, providing relief to commuters and facilitating smoother vehicular movement on a daily basis. The new lines will connect key areas such as Hebbal, KR Puram, and Silk Board, effectively linking various parts of the city.

With the feasibility tests already conducted, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is confident in completing Phase 3 of the project by 2028. The state government will primarily finance most of the project's costs, with additional support expected from the Centre.
